We have been selling high quality, copper and brass kerosene burning
ships lanterns and lights for years. We used to have agents that scoured the ship wrecking yards in India, and Bangladesh, the hub of where this trade is still being done. However, the ships they are breaking now were built as late as the 1970s and 1980. Many have plastic nav light housings,
and even plastic Fresnel lenses which get cloudy with age and all are electric.
These are not what we take
pride in. Our challenge is finding ships navigation lights and lighting of unusual size, shape, and use, that are in excellent
condition. Sometimes we sell them in “as found” condition, but only if they meet our high standards for quality
and originality. We have some polished here at considerable expense, if we feel they should be preserved as a work of industrial
art.
Only
authentic, seagoing lights that met the international regulations for use at sea that was in force when they were made. There
are no reproductions here.
Please scroll down. There are numerous rare ships lamps on this page. Their pictures are linked to
detailed information and more photographs.
