Presented is a GIANT English ship's bulkhead lamp made of heavy brass castings. It's design and construction indicates it was likely made in the in the mid 1800's. This lamps huge size, heavy gauge brass castings, precision workmanship, and heavy fourteen  pound weight makes it comparable to only one other lamp we have had the pleasure of selling. The detailed pictures should give you an idea of its massiveness and elegance.

CONDITION: Considering its age, and years of use this lamp is in exceptional original condition, and complete in all respects except for a polished reflector that mounts behind the kerosene lamp. There are no markings.

PROVENANCE: Purchased in June, 2008 at auction held by Lannan's Ship Model Gallery  for the benefit of the Museum of Yachting, Newport, Road Island.

If you haven't guessed, this lamp is not cheap. We have only had one other that was comparable in age, size and quality so this is a major find. It is for a discriminating collector who will appreciate it rarity and elegant design.
