Polished & Lacquered Bell Metal

Presented is a World War Two (WW II) "Foredeck" bell which has all its original parts including the rarely found "shoe", original clapper and bracket and one piece nut and washer. It comes complete with a dark oval wood base and a fancy macramé bell rope at no additional charge.

 

It is unusual for a bell of this type to have survived the years with all these parts present:

• Clapper
• Mounting Shoe
• Special one piece washer and nut

NOW HARD TO FIND: U.S. Navy bells of this unique design are becoming very scarce, and those with all their original parts are scarcer still. The vertical inverted “J” bracket requires that they be mounted on a pedestal or deck, hence they are known as anchor or foredeck bells.

PROVENANCE:The bell was owned by a Navy Veteran for the last 33 years who always displayed it with pride. Now that he is retired, he is down sizing and simplifying his life style. Over the last few years, Navy Bells have become very scarce so we were delighted to have him contact us.
