A rare Chelsea Navy 12 / 24 hour general purpose clock that was made in limited numbers. It is in immaculate condition, recently serviced, and keeping good time. Suitable for an important gift, a collection, or ready to go back to sea!

Presented is high quality example of a Chelsea Cock Co., Navy clock, SN 312752 which dates from 1940-41. The serial number on the case and movement match. This fine Navy ship's clock is keeping time with a quartz comparison watch. It has a Black six inch 12/24 hour dial in very good condition. The moon second sweep, spade hour hand and a spear minute hand have been refinished. Most of these clock were housed in a black phenolic case, but this early one has a large, heavy weight, 7 3/4 inch overall forged brass case with a screw on bezel.

CHELSEA CLOCK Co., Boston is acid etched in white upper case Copper Plate Gothic below 12 O'clock. U.S. Navy and Ser. No. 77855E are below the center arbor. The movement is a 12E, 8 day time only with an 11 jewel escapement. There is a wheel type fast/slow adjustment at 3 o'clock. It weighs almost 7 pounds. It was designed for general shipboard use including the engine room, and for all applications other than those requiring special purpose clocks such as in the radio room or on open decks.
