Presented is a wonderful old three light,
12 bolt, Japanese dive helmet possibly made by Nippon Sensu which operated from about 1910 to 1960. It has an attractive dark
bluish green patina with some copper showing through in places. The small maker's tag is illegible, but the heavy metal construction
and upright sidelights with vertical and horizontal grills and factory installed communication's inlet at the rear are
traditional of this maker. These features and the circular exhaust make it's appearance similar to a Morse or Siebe
Gorman, but it is smaller and lighter in weight. It's rugged good looks and quality construction will appeal to many.
If desired, it can be professionally polished and lacquered for an additional $350.00.
These better made and moderately priced helmets are great
decorating items.
CONDITION: The bonnet has numerous dents and
dimples, but none are deep or objectionable. Some of the brailes are slightly bent. There is a broken knob
on the face plate which may have had a guard fitted at one time. We have not tried to remove the nuts. There
are soldered field repairs around the front port and air inlet to eliminate leaks. A small nipple is fitted
to the left back for a telephone cable, but the speaker has been removed. The air vents are intact. The pressure release
valve operates. There is a factory lock.
Like all our helmets, this is being sold
for DISPLAY ONLY. It should not be dived without having passed inspection by a certified dive ship.
