|
The overall condition of this sextant is excellent. It
is just waiting to go back to sea and where it can be put back to use or for a serious student desiring the whole
horizon feature rarely found on a Tamaya |
PRICE $750.00
SHIPPING and handling to 48 contiguous States $25.00
I've been involved selling Tamaya sextants for over 35 years,
and back then, my company Nautech Maritime Corporation was instrumental in the design and introduction of their MS 733
SPICA, MS 833 Jupiter, and MS 933 Venus sextants and the famous NC 2, and NC 77 navigation computers to the US Market..
Therefore, I'm pleased to offer a 1982 Tamaya Jupiter sextant,
Serial Number 65161, with a 4 x 40 scope and the optional whole horizon mirror they called "UNIVISION"
This feature was a $350.00 option when it was available, but it has not been offered in the U.S. for quite
some time.
This sextant is in exceptional condition, and shows little
evidence of use except that one cap for the ocular lens of the scope is missing and there is no factory booklet. The case
is the more recent style plastic one which is much improved over the early wood cases. The instrument's certificate
dated, February 17, 1982, shows "0" error over its usable range.

CONDITION: Irrespective of age, overall condition, is excellent.
Adjustable index error is 1' on the arc and side error is nil. All moving parts turn freely. Nothing
is broken. The only exceptions are that one of circular shade for the scopes' ocular lens is missing, and there
is no Tamaya booklet. The end cap is rarely, if ever, used. There is some light scratching in the case's interior. The
mirrors are perpendicular to frame. Both mirrors are without blemish. The case is in excellent condition. The
sextant's paint on the frame is as new. All the numbers match.
This sextant is exceptional in condition
and because of its special features is perfect for someone desiring the UNIVISION feature
STAR RATING: Without qualification, this
instrument rates 5 STARS
