GIANT CAST IRON ORNAMENTAL 8 POUND FIELD CANNON MINIATURE Ca 1776     PRICE $550.00 plus shipping to 48 States $50.00   Because of its large size, this cannon makes a great display. It  replicates an 8 Pound Field Cannon as used in the Revolutionary War.    Presented is a very large size cast iron field cannon that is of the type used during our Revolutionary War. The 8-pound field gun was a medium weight, mobile piece that was a favored by both the Americans and the British of the field artillery.  The bore extends only about an 1 1/2 inches into the barrel, and therefore this replica was not made to fire. However,  because of its large size it makes an imposing piece which will catch everyone's attention.  MARKINGS & PROVENANCE: There are no markings. The cannon was acquired in the normal course of business without provenance. CONDITION:  The touch hole is only about 1 1/2 inches deep. The carriage has some small casting voids on the left side. A few of the iron spokes are partially cracked at the hub, but they are all still sturdy.
