Presented is an item of seagoing gear, made by the Tokyo Siren Co in June, 1980 that is an ideal addition to a serious collection of unusual marine memorabilia. It also has use on holidays or on a boat. Think about welcoming New Year's in with the sound of a BIG SHIP'S HORN, It is a hand powered foghorn that is rated as a backup in the event of a power failure to a big ship's electrically powered horn. 33 cranks of the handle charge the system which is activated by a lever. The sound is dramatic and has the characteristics of a vessel of large size. The designed range is 1.5 nautical miles.

 

The horn body is made of aluminum so that the weight is quite little for its size. The megaphone horn extends two feet, and the device fits on across the top of the open case. When collapsed, the whole unit fits nicely back in its shippy looking light blond wood case.

CONDITION: In excellent condition with nothing broken or missing, and without corrosion. The case has some scratches and dings, but nothing of consequence. Since it has been to sea, some of the end bolts show minor rust.
