ANTIQUE U.S. OFFICER'S SABER GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC
Likely 1860 
Presented is a high quality, and very rare, curved saber
made by J.H. Lambert of Philadelphia. The Lambert firm was active at a number of locations from 1854 until 1925. Most all
the blades bluing is intact. The sword belt has a large buckle with a tent embossed on its face, and the black leather belt has
a heavy chain with two snap shackles that attach to the rings on the scabbard. The pommel is brass in the shape associated
with the period. The handle is leather covered and has two twisted strands of copper wire wound around the groves to
make a firm grip. The channel or "fuller" runs right along the upper curve, and is quite wide. The engravings on the blued
panels depict cross flags and drums.

CONDITION: PHILADELPHIA is engraved at the
head of the blade on one side and the maker's name on the other. The brass work is in exceptionally good condition and heavy
in weight. The engraving on the blade is clear and sharp. The brass guard is firmly attached. The blade is in excellent
condition with very little pitting and discoloration, and almost all its bluing. It still has an edge and is smooth to the
touch. The wood grip is in excellent condition, and as described above. The scabbard is in excellent condition and is
original to the saber. The buckle and its attachments are in excellent condition and appear to be gold plated.

of use this is a highly collectable U.S. Army saber from a historic period in our nation's history.
