Presented is an exceptional, larger than normal size, desk top, cast bronze miniature cannon replicates the type that was on the gun decks of ship's of the line during the time of the Sailing Navy. Models like this were made as a presentation piece or as a foundry replica of its products. It has various foundry markings which include George Rex,  a date of 1724 and above the touch hole, 12 PDR for 12 pounder. The deep dark patina is almost gun metal black. The carriage, and its bronze fittings are authentic to the period and appear to be original. The front of the cannon and bore shows an accumulation of powder burns, evidence of it being fired. It has the characteristics of the most noteworthy examples of cannons of this period and type which include:

CONDITION: This miniature is exquisitely made and without fault. It is equal in quality to the most expensive that we have seen in cannons of this type. The cannon has a dark metallic patina. The trunnions are cast as part of the barrel at the mid section of the barrel. The trunion caps are missing. There are various foundry markings.
