SOLD OUT & DISCONTINUED! HERRESHOFF 12.5 SAILBOAT MODEL READY BUILT BUZZARD BAY BOY'S BOAT
This little gem is so cute, as my wife says, "you just want to give
it a hug." It also is one of the finest plank on frame wood models on the market. And at an unbelievable low price. It is
a beautiful reproduction of the famous Herreshoff Buzzard's Bay Boy's Boat.
Gaff rigged and made plank-on-frame, this is one of the finest replica's of this popular 15' sailboat. Made to scale 1"=1ft.
Its stitched sails, and enameled paint are exceptional.
As a retired master mariner and
a long time collector myself, it is difficult to understand why there is such a wide disparity in quality. Many models are
sold at very high prices, and others at give away prices, and when you look at them closely, you can see why. The high priced
ones are very much over priced, and the low priced ones are not true to the original and are mostly representative of foreign
vessels. We hope to change that by providing high quality models of boats known and loved by American sailors at a reasonable
price that will give lasting enjoyment, and pride of ownership.
HERRESHOF 12.5 HISTORY:
Known variously as a "Bull's Eye," "Buzzard's Bay 12.5 footer,"
"Buzzards Bay Boy Boat," or a "Doughfish," Nathaniel Green Herreshoff designed and built the first twenty of these small and
popular "one-design" sport sailers between 30 October and 14 November 1914 (hulls 744-762.) Capable of seating several people,
they measured only 12.5 feet at the waterline and originally sold for $420 each. Many more were built over the years and production
of the boat ceased in about 1939. The Herreshoff Manufacturing Company of Bristol, RI, designed and built boats, sail and
engine-powered yachts, America's Cup racers, and military vessels from 1878 to 1945.
There has been a resurgence of interest in this classic design,
and you may find up to 11 of them competing at the Annapolis Yacht Club's Wednesday evening races. We priced one, and they
are currently going for $28,000.00. Not bad for a 12 foot boat, and almost 100 year old design.

MODEL DIMENSIONS: 15" L x 24 1/2" H x 6 1/4" W WEIGHT 2 lb
MINOR ASSEMBLY REQUIRED: To save
cost, this model is shipped with its mast down. For most people, it is a simple affair to step the mast and hook on all the
stays and shrouds, and attach the sails. The detailed instructions are excellent, but if you have a problem, email or call
us for guidance.
