Thank you CHELSEA RARE 24 HOUR FACE WW II FORGED BRASS FULLY RESTORED COMBAT ROOM CLOCK  TWELVE JEWELS EIGHT DAY MOVEMENT The stand, a $75.00 value, is included!   Presented is a rare, twelve jewels, eight day, clock with a rare 6" 24 hour black face that makes one full revolution of the dial in 24 hours. During the War, military clocks were made to the rigid specifications of the Navy Department and this one has an twelve jewel movement. The clock's serial number dates it to 1941. It was recently completely reconditioned by a master clocksmith who rebuilt, cleaned and oiled the Chelsea #12e movement with (12 jewels) having machine cut pinions and wheels, on magnetic Breguet type hair spring and compensated escapement. This makes a very high grade precision time piece. The mechanism is housed in a very heavy, forged brass case with screw on bezel with a maximum diameter of 7 1/4" at the rear, and is 2 1/2" deep. It is keeping excellent time compared to a the National Bureau of Standards time. The period style stand is included at no additional charge.                                                                              USS KITTSON, APA 123                                                               PROVENANCE: The clock was made for the war effort and sailed aboard a Victory Class ship, the USS KITTSON, APA 123. It was obtained from a picker who bought it from a government surplus auction in Virginia in the 1970s and was tagged from the ship. The back of the case has the ship’s name and hull number scratched on it. There is no written documentation supporting this, but it sounds probable.   The near flawless face of the Chelsea 24 hour clock CONDITION: Having a recently rebuilt movement,  this fine clock is in remarkable condition with a face that looks as new and shows only minor handling marks. The clock has been recently serviced by a master clock smith, and the movement is keeping good time losing 15 seconds per day. Since it is 75 years old, we recommend it be wound about every four days for best timekeeping results.   SPECIFICATIONS: Forged bronze case with screw on bezel. The six inch face has a 5 1/2 inch viewable area. The black dial is acid etched and filled in white with Arial numerals and lettering. These have darkened slightly with age. The ultra precision 8 day, twelve jewel movement, and a compensated balance wheel and Breguet hair spring and spade style hands show as near new. The seconds hand with moon tail is a recent replacement.
