Presented
is a handsomely made Oak campaign decanter box with four hand blown and hand formed heavily rippled decanters. The
case has two inset campaign handles of high quality brass work. The four compartments are lined with green felt cloth.
There is no question that the square glass bottles were blown by hand without a mold as evidenced by the Pontil mark on their
bottom. This mark occurs when the pontil rod by which the air is blown in, is snapped after shaping the glass. A technique
used prior to 1855. Each bottle has a flared snout with a lip to ease pouring. A Lister & Son, Newcastle, Silversmith
& Watchmakers to the Queen lable is centered on the inside top which dates the case to the mid 19th Century. The cork
stoppers are recent replacements.

CONDITION: The case is in exceptional condition considering its age and use.
There are only a few blemishes to the wood, none of which are of consequence. The brass campaign type grips have

without defects or bubbles except that one bottle has a small crack at the bottom.
